My thoughts for the day...

To be updated throughout the day:

* Managers should not argue about timing issues in work (timesheets, work logs etc) if they cannot count or add up properly. If one must argue using statistics, it is always helpful to have them being correct.

* When is the Queen's birthday? As I get that day off supposedly.

* What should I get for lunch a Subway footlonger, or a Burger King?

* Has my job eroded my sanity so much that I am now resorting to gaining the insights of others regarding my lunch?

* It's too hot, and all my clothes are black...the office air con is as useful as a punctured condom, the fan next to my desk keeps blowing my data log sheets all over the place...come back dark clouds, I miss you.

Help needed...

Does anyone know of where I can get a free English to Kanji translation?

I have decided what I want for my next tattoo, and yes you guessed right, I would like something in Kanji down my left forearm.

I really could use a little help with this, as I am have been trying so far this morning without success to get a translation that I don't have to pay for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A wish for the day...edited

Oh, how I wish that Hollywood would stop remaking films, in particular I really wish they had not announced a remake of Total Recall.

The original may not be every person's cup of tea, but it was still a damn fine film in my opinion, and when it comes to films, I am firmly in the 'if it ain't broke...' catagory.

Please Hollywood, a decent film should never have to be re-made, if only the studio execs would focus on new films, or if it is entirely necessary to re-make a film, by all means re-make a really shit one (obviously into something less shitty!), something nothing like the awesomeness of Stop or My Mom Will Shoot...more like something along the same lines of shittiness as Indian Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, now that would be a challenge!

And while I am on the subject of remakes...has anyone noticed that there's a new series of Knight Rider on Sci-Fi channel? I am not going to go into my rant again, as unlike films, I have been proven wrong with remakes or re-imaginings of t.v. series, most notably BSG, has anyone actually watched this, and is it any good?

Is it just me who has movie re-make phobia? Am I insane or am I just bored in work and in need of a bitching session?

Quitting Smoking 2009 take 2....

Day 3:- Patched up with Nicquitin nicotine patches (stage 1 - for the heavier smoker) and doing well, still getting slight cravings, but I think it's more to do with the boredom of work and lack of things to do with my hands (other than type LJ posts and data records than lack of nicotine as am on the strongest patch they make). Still it's nothing like my first attempt when I attempted the cold turkey route, which lasted less than a week. So, hopefully I can continue the way I've started and any stressful/work related incidents barring, this could work out rather well.

Bank holiday weekend...

I've realised something, I don't see or keep in touch with my friends as much as I should...other than [info]wuggy who seems to be usurped from his place on the sofa most weekends when I am round. Well, I can only apologise for this, without making any excuses, as there are none.

Also with it being a bank holiday weekend approaching, I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent nights to attend? If so, would anyone be interested in joining me? This comes as a result of not actually going out properly anywhere anymore in fact, Whitby and London withstanding, I haven't actually been out socially since...hmmm...well, a while anyway.

If so let me know by the usual means of comments and mobile.

Good day

Not done a lot to be honest...but there is some good news...

Izzy had her operation today and came through it with flying colours.

Yes my Ibanez is now back amongst the guitars of the living, a bit of rewiring and solder, and she's back...well nearly, I'm going to have to put some lemon oil on the neck, re-string her and give her a bit of a set up, but god damn I have missed that guitar so much.

Squee!

Experimental mentality

There comes a time when I think, 'to hell with it, it's time for an update'. Yes, I know that I haven't done a 'proper' update for a while, and the Whitby update complete with pictures is long overdue (I might sort that this weekend) but after mulling over some of the conversations I had yesterday, I came to the realisation that someone somewhere will read your entries if you don't restrict them to friends only or custom groups. Funnily enough this exact notion was presented to me yesterday via a comment relating to my first ever post (which was rather depressing, much like that period of my life) which like this was not restricted, most likely as a result of only just learning how to do things.

So here I am updating and not restricting the post as somesort of experiment, to see if this comes up again in future conversations.

So anyway, life seems to have a habit of throwing a curve ball just when I feel settled into my groove. However fortunately it's nothing too major, afterall, what would life be like without such little things to keep one on their toes? Work is still here, although for how long I am unsure, there's been talk of redundacies after my contract comes to an end, although they're also training us in new areas which leads me to hope that my contract will indeed be renewed, however, I am not holding out too much hope on that and have also reached the end of my patience with this job. It's not that the work is terribly unbearable, more that it's not challenging enough and to mundane for my easily distracted mind. That and I feel I need more of a career path than mere employment, still I am applying for jobs further afield in more ways than one and so hopefully soon things should become more clear.

Other than that, life is plodding along ratehr nicely at the moment, and for once I can't say that there's any major gripes or anything other than the seemingly freefall like demise of my beloved Arsenal Football Club...but I have a feeling that they'll come good this weekend. Despite my lack of faith in my supported team, my complete lack of faith in the politicians who supposedly run this country, actually, I would go as far as to say 75% of the entire conutry is even more shocking. I am slowly becoming even more cynical every time I read a newspaper to see how the general populus is treated. Our own elected officials repay our votes by basically stealing our taxes to fund their own lavish lifestyle. Sections of our police no longer seem to be able to accept 'innocent until proven guilty' and would rather give you a pounding becuase they're in the mood...and that's not even getting me started on the 'pandemic' of Swine Flu. So what have I done to combat this? Stopped reading the news, it was an obvious solution at the end of the day...it leaves me feeling more happy and shiny at the end of the day.

As I enter these final weeks of my 26th year on planet earth, I am not so much reflecting on life and achievements any more, but looking forwards to discovering what the future holds.

RIP

It's a sad day, just found out about this.

Now they'll never reform.

And if things couldn't get worse...

I've lost my mobile phone.

Fucking brilliant!

Great, as that also means I have lost everyone's details.

EDIT: The phone has now been locked, so theoretically it should be useless to whomever has it, if anyone.

Geekiness, WoW and music

Has put a smile on my face, lol.

Wonder if I can get my character in WoW to play guitar like that?

Since my character is actually a Rogue :-D

And one more...

Sat, May. 24th, 2008, 09:04 am
That was a bad idea...

...to go out before being in work this morning, although got out of bed at 08:30, got into work before 09:00...t'was a close one, but still...worth it?

Not in the slightest.

Wed, May. 21st, 2008, 08:57 am
Hmmm...interesting

Not even 30 mins in work, still haven't started my shift and already on coffee number 4, this going to be a good day...

more to follow through the day in the life of a random loon.

Thu, May. 15th, 2008, 04:39 pm
Randomness

12 cups of coffee and still going strong...

Am I mad? Tired?

A bit of both, although my shift seems to passing with an acceptable speed, that and I seem to think this is a fun day...I must be mad.

Another 110 minutes to go and counting...

For those in the know

I was hanging by a thread...

...it has now been cut.

Wed, Mar. 19th, 2008, 12:03 pm
Just before I start my shift...

Does anyone want to own up to calling my mobile at 05:10 this morning?

Not that I noticed until AFTER waking up :-p

More to follow as and when I get a break...

BREAK TIME...

Bloody typical isn't it? I get a 4 day weekend with which I'm spending in London, just to find that the west coast line is totally out of service on the Monday when I was planning to return. In fact the only day they are working is the Friday, so looks like it'll be coach journey again, with the added bonus that it's going to lengthen my journey time.

Public transport? *pah!*

Although, all is not too bad...work is being strangely nice to me this week, yesterday I was rewarded with beer and chocolate truffles for simply doing my job and I arrive this morning to be greeted by posh looking little easter eggs in a mug.

Wed, Mar. 5th, 2008, 03:07 pm
Drat, drat and double drat...

Typical, I go on my break and the coffee machine is broken!

My war against technology continues.

Sun, Mar. 2nd, 2008, 02:46 pm
Today...

...the boy is broken.

My back has just literally chosen to rebel...not good.

Really don't want to go to work tomorrow, as I am on early shifts and could do with some nice long sleep in/dvd watching mornings.

lot of fun though last night...hope that [info]_nocturnalpulse enjoyed herself.
